Engraved map with some outline colour, 4 sheets, mounted as two sheets, with ornamental title cartouche with the German double-headed eagle overlooking two warrior maidens. Engraved by Thomas Kitchin. Size c. 1070x1200 mm. for whole map. Some folds, some spotting and browning, small repair to margin of one leaf. Framed with no glass.
Probably a late issue. This large well-detailed map covers the German Empire, which at the time extended from the Baltic Sea to the Gulf of Venice. It includes Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Poland, Lithuania, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium and most of Denmark. This is the 1794 updated edition of a map originally published in 1759.
