THE CLUMBER LIBRARY. Catalogue of the Magnificent Library, the Property of the Late Seventh Duke of Newcastle Removed from Clumber, Worksop... The First (-Fourth) Portion. London Sotheby & Co) 1937-38. Small 4:o. 11 coloured plates, 97 monochrome (some folding), original wrappers to portion II-IV.
Contemporary blue cloth. Some pencil annotations (prices, buyers', probably by A. N. L. Munby, his bookplate on inside of upper cover).

Also withbound a catalogue from Christie's 1937: Valuable Books being the residue of the Celebrated Library at Clumber (auction to be hold at the premises).
Alan Noel Latimer ('Tim') Munby (1913-1974) was an English author, writer and librarian.
Munby worked in the antiquarian book trade with Bernard Quaritch, Limited (1935-37) and Sotheby & Company (1937-39, 1945-47). He became Librarian at King's College, Cambridge in 1947 and Fellow in 1948; he was J.P.R. Lyell Reader in Bibliography, University of Oxford (1962-63) and Sandars Reader in Bibliography, University of Cambridge (1969-70). He was elected President of the Bibliographical Society in 1974 and died during his term of office. (Wikipedia).
The Library was mainly formed by the fourth Duke of Newcastle (1785-1851), and inclded a Shakespeare first folio, andThe Hours of Isabel of Brittany, otherwise known as the Lamoignon Hours.
