Folio (355x215). (Vol. IV and VI-VIII probably lacks half titles, also probably lacks 4 blank leaves). 4 titles printed in red and black with engraved vignettes, 4 engraved titles (to vol. II-V ), 1 fullpage armorial plate (in suppl.), 2 halfpage engravings, a few woodcut illustrations, some nice woodcut initials.
Contemporary vellum, worn, partly cracks in the joints, 5 old rebacked, spines in six compartments, partly damages at head or foot. Lacks some endpapers. 1 leaf in supplement with large mended tear. A few marginal annotations, partly foxed, 10 leaves hard, partly browned, about 100 leaves hard, some minor dampstaining, suppl. dampstained in lower margin. A few burnholes, a few pages with inkstains. Signatures on title or half-titles, title to vol. I damaged after signature. 9 volumes.
Lucas Wadding (1588-1657, born at Waterford, Ireland, theologian. His greatest literary achievement was the "Annales ord. minorum", a history of the Franciscan Order from its foundation.
